Spelling Test Routine:
1. Students in C2 will sit a ‘pre’ test on the following
weeks list words. The list words will all include a
common sound that may be represented in different
ways (different letters).
2. When the pre-test is marked the children are given a
copy of the list words to take home (this will
generally be on a Monday). This list of words will be
glued into your child's little spelling book. Ideally
this book will be kept in your child's 'Home Folder'
meaning that your child always has their words with
them whether at school or at home.
Students will highlight the words on the list that they
spelled incorrectly in the pre-test and in most cases
will choose some extra more tricky words to make up
their own personal spelling list of words to learn. In
Year 3 I like to start with a list of 15 words - but this
can be adjusted throughout the year if need be.
***how your child goes about
learning the words is up to you***
3. Throughout the week we will work through various oral
and written activities that use the list words as well as
a range of other words that include the focus sound.
The Sound Waves Student book provides a double
page of activities that we will complete in class.
4. Students will test with a partner on Fridays.
