C2 Information/Class Routines/Reminders
This page contains bits and pieces of information to do with regular C2 and school routines.
Punctuality:
Punctual arrival at school and after recess and lunch breaks is important and encouraged. The classroom door will be open at 8:35am. Students are expected to come in and ensure that they are set up and organised for the day before school formally starts at 8:50am.
Money and Notes:
When money/notes come in they are to go straight to the office. Please ensure that the money is in a sealed envelope with your child’s name, room and year level clearly written on the front. Please also write on the envelope what the money is for.
Absences:
A note, quick email or phone call to the office is required for all absences. Unexplained absences will be followed up by admin staff.
Classroom Routines and Procedures:
'Morning Time':
When the door opens in the morning children are to come in a make sure that they are ready for the day. Chairs and desks are to be set up. This time is ideally used for finishing off class work, reading independently or with a friend etc.
Home Folder:
In C2 we will be using a ‘Home Folder’ – this folder should go home each day with your child and come back to school each morning. In this folder will be your child’s spelling words, any important notes and on occasions work that needs finishing off. Children are encouraged to keep their Home Folder at the top of their desk while at school.
Homework:
There will be both formal and informal homework tasks throughout the year. Children are encouraged to practice and learn their times tables and spelling words. At times students may have class work to finish off in their own time. For more info please see the 'Homework' tab.
Year 3 - NAPLAN:
This year your child will sit their first round of NAPLAN tests in Week 3 of Term 2. We will be practising and preparing throughout the term and into next term for the tests. As it is your child's first time participating in NAPLAN please make sure you talk about it at home.
Birthday Book:
As a school it is prohibited to bring and share food/treats when it is your child's birthday. In the event that any food/cake etc is brought in it will not be shared and will return with your child at the end of the day. In C2 we will celebrate personal birthdays in a different way with Birthday Books. See the Birthday Book tab for more info.
Note: On the odd occasion there will be food sharing at school as part of a planned and specified activity (eg: end of year class party). At these times there will be communication between the teachers involved and the parents to ensure that food choices are safe and appropriate.
Art:
We will participate in art activities on different days throughout the week (it is not always strictly on the same day and same time each week). We will use dyes, paints and various other materials. If your child does not yet have an art shirt at school it is encouraged that they bring one in readiness for these activities.
Parent Communication:
I can be contacted easily by notes/letters and by email. I will contact you by the same means or by phone if and when necessary. Please feel free to come and have a look in the room before or after school so that your child can show you what they have been busy doing.
